Royal castle vs. White Castle

There was a time here in Cleveland Ohio USA.

We had a couple of restaurants one of them was tasty burger and the other one was most widely known as royal castle!

Royal castle was widely known at least locally. For their small hamburgers. Which were identical to the White Castle burgers, referred to as sliders.

The only difference was the Royal Castle burgers were small and round and for us guys two bites! And the burger is gone!

When White Castle opened up its first store on the west side. There was a line of vehicles as far as the eye could see!

Some if not most of us heard about the size of White Castle hamburgers. It was strictly because White castle’s sliders what is reminiscence a little bit to Royal Castle hamburgers.

White Castle expanded in the Cleveland area during that time but it also acquired churches fried Chicken.

Burgers and fried chicken?

The formula to Church’s fried Chicken was the same. But when churches was a separate franchise. It also had Cajun Rice. White Castle did not.

But sometime during the great recession! The people at White Castle decided to close up what they call “non-performing stores”.

We had fun while it lasted!

Where were you during 9/11?

This question has got the rank right up there the same as where were you when you heard JFK was assassinated?

At the time of 911? I was working. When one of the co-workers told me that a commercial plane hit one of the twin towers.

A few minutes later the same forever told me another plane hit the other twin towers.

I can remember during lunch time I went outside just to see if anything was happening? It was absolute dead silence! No cars on the street. It was so quiet you thought that it was Sunday morning!

When I got home I hit the internet went to USA today. Apparently! Theit machines must have hit the mega overload! Every time I tried to go back to usatoday.com. It would give me past editions of USA today not one for 9/11.

All of the networks just kept talking about it perhaps one or two networks did show a replay of what happened. I can say that all of the networks we’re being way too sensitive when it came to showing anything that was related to 9 / 11.

I think it is safe to say even to this day it’s hard for me to even imagine let alone think of the massive loss of lives on that day.

You do have to give some credit to Mayor Rudolph Giuliani mayor of New York. He did try to spend as much time trying to recover bodies from the tragedy.

I think it’s safe to say that even onto the day and into the future?

He will always be remembered but also so he will not be forgiven and trying to recover every last body that was in the 9/11 in the twin towers at the time.

The difference between renting and leasing?

It’s hard to believe even for me!

People have a hard time trying to figure out or understanding difference between renting and leasing versus owning?

And the difference between having a good track record of paying the rent in full and on time. Versus evictions.

Evictions can weight extremely heavy on a prospective tenant who does have even one eviction on their record.

What really makes it worse? Is when the tenant doesn’t understand or comprehend the difference between renting? Leasing? owning?

And when the tenant moves out? They stopped short of hiring a wrecking ball! And does damage to the space that they were paying!

And the tenant comes up short in paying the rent just short of every single month!

When you rent or lease?

You’re only paying for the space of the place that you’re living at.

You do not own the space of the place none whatsoever!

Usually in some cities there is what’s commonly referred to as housing court. You can always call to find out what you need to know when it comes to renting/ leasing. Or a landlord tenants organization.

Always check with each level of government to see if they have landlord tenant laws.

It’s been said!

There are two prerequisites an income property management owner needs?

A deed! And the pulse!

Even on any level of government that has landlord tenant laws. they are limited because they don’t want to restrict or even detour anybody who is interested in owning income properties.

Each level of government is pretty much the same way when it comes to attracting and maintaining businesses think of that City, county, State.

The only thought that the tenant needs to keep in mind is?

Always keep the space of the place that you rent / lease.

As if you did own it!

But don’t let it go to your head!

Cutting the cord or? There must be something better than cable!

Techdirt: Charter Spectrum Once Again ‘Competes’ By… Raising Prices.

There there was a time in the prehistoric era! When cable first start out it was an antenna service.

Who would have thought that cable would have grown to be this big?

I can remember when it was an antenna service

It was first introduced here in town. But only for the rich suburbs of the city.

As I recall it only covered the channels 2 through 13. At the time during the mid-sixties.

You’ve got your local channels at the time it was 3, 5 and 8, the other channels were filled with either out of town or out-of-state channels. There was even one channel that came from London Ontario Canada.

As a kid I used to play with the TV every once in awhile. Just to see if I could pick up any out of town or out of state TV stations. I loved it! My parents hated it!

The antenna service was promoted as more shows more movies more sports more news.

As the antenna service grew into being cable.

Cable channels were basically custom-made channels. To suit just about anyone and everyone

Now what do we have?

Higher cable rates! Carbon copy of each channel!

In the over 5years I have been here?

Neither the property mgs.want to spend money on this place!

The place has changed over the five years that I’ve been here. 5 times!

Now I haven’t noticed that current management wants me to move out all because they will not renew my lease.

How can you throw out somebody who has paid the rent in full and on time

You would think that in front of the apartment complex! They would install security cameras to find out who has been hacking away at the evergreen bushes.

They have money to hire a towing company to do a reconnaissance mission to make sure all the cars has stickers on them and the ones that don’t get towed away at their expense! No problem there!

Current management does not answer the telephones with a human being they would rather have a caller leave a voicemail message or communicate to them via email they say it’s all due to legalities being what they are?

Childhood Memories

This is for the ones that have been born and raised if not spend time here in Cleveland Ohio USA

Too many besides these Slavic village neighborhood. The Tremont area was another interesting area  neighborhood in the city.

How to change even the Tremont area anything and everything you could have ever needed or wanted is usually within walking distance.

Even during the time! The Tremont area didn’t have a & p mini markers but the local supermarket Fisher foods had a mini market on professor Avenue and then there was another local market bi-rite what’s a little bit bigger than the other mini markets.there was also used as part of the scene in the movie The deer Hunter.

You had dry cleaners to drugstores a laundromat supermarket there was a lot smaller than a mini market, you’re always within a short walking distance of a bar! And I do mean a “short distance!”. Insurance agency.

Mom and pop delicatessens,   and Ashland oil products gas station, the neighborhood record store, a small print shop also operated in the Tremont neighborhood.

Lemko Hall which was also another place that was used in the movie The deer Hunter as well, shoe store, hardware store, appliance store, family clothing store, beauty shop, florist shop, butcher shop, 5 + 10 store, 2 Banks  couple VFW Halls, Saint Theodosius, church St John cantius which was temporarily change to st. John Kanty it was the only church that had a bowling alley! Bakery, there was a bar called the TV in which was next door to the Cleveland public libraries Jefferson Branch. I remember it was an odd phrase because upstairs were apartments and at the time around 1966 my parents was looking at that apartment above the TV in bar. To me it was the only apartment had a bathroom where they had a bathtub only the toilet you had to go downstairs to the other apartments to use and if the tenants downstairs who have the toilet ever had to take a bath they had to come up there is into the other apartment to take a bath!

Red star sausage company that was another butcher shop but they also carried like food service packs cans of applesauce, Harmony which was at the time my first taste of hominy I don’t know which is worse Harmony or grits?

There was behind Tremont elementary school in the back little did I know there was an orphanage. Somehow it was either burned down or torn down the orphanage is no longer there.

There is also a shoe store and insrance company, restaurant called hot puppy shoppe, barber shop, European restaurant which if I recall correctly is  right across the street from the Christmas story museum.

Who could forget Lincoln Park? It had a public water fountain, at the time in the center of Lincoln Park it had a fountain where would spray water in a year later they cemented over it years later the city opened it back up again to what it once was public fountain display and then they submitted it over again and they put a gazebo right in the center of it.

Diagonally across the street from Lincoln Park there is a church call the new pilgrim Congregational Church.

It was the only church I can ever recall in the city of Cleveland!

That had a Nativity scene during the holidays with real sheep!

It was a one-time deal because they never set up a nativity scene with real sheep ever again because one of the neighborhood kids grab some snow an ball and hit one of the sheep in the eye.

And the Tremont area is the only area that I know of at the time that actually had a hospital Grace hospital.

Who could forget the steel mills near by both the Tremont area and Slavic village area?

There was a local PBS pledge drive documentary about the area surrounding the steel mills the interview one of the former steelworkers who said he would bring Frozen TV dinners to work with him and where the men’s locker room was he can put his Frozen TV dinner near the window next to but let’s just say within range of the blast furnace. And by the time lunch time came around he had himself a hot TV dinner!

Every once in awhile during the summer or my parents would have the windows open chill at the Cool breeze I will summer night come in and I are always here air products I think it was their air compressor we always make a bellowing sound I guess I was to release air from there humongous air compressor.

My parents my two half sisters and I are we lived on Houston Avenue anytime you can hear either the ship’s horn because we were next to the Cuyahoga River, or we would hear the the trains horns blow.

There is a section or a strip along professor Avenue.

Or the businesses that once stood are just vacant lots!

You don’t know what you can do? Until you go and do it!

This is something I learned from a information broker

He was right! A lot of people only stick with one thing and one thing only.,Instead of just go and do it.

Case in point!

I worked at a industrial brush co.

There was a electrician who got a 👎 job review. He got booted down to drilling holes in plates for brushes.

I was a janitor then. I said to him? Why don’t you go to a co tra ring company? He was unsure because he was an apprentice. I said? Just to there and let the person behind desk make the decision. He thought about it. A few minutes later! He told his bozz? ‘I quit!’

He went that same day! Got hired!

There was a time when? I tried to sales. Just to see if I could do it

I was a telemarketer, peddler, sold Tupperware! It was interesting.

It’s time to get out of your zhell!

Go and do it!

If there is life after death? What would I be?

I was thinking?

What would I be after death? I know what I don’t want to be!

A Toilet! People dumping on me! Like I don’t have enough dumpings. I don’t have to give you the details? “IT STINKS”

Bathroom fixture? I don’t want all that stuff down. My throat!

Furnace? I don’t have not flashes!

Light/Lamp? TOm about “job burnout?”

A/ C? I’ll wait till flu season starts. Television! I 💘 being watched! Famous star? Nah!

President? I’ ok get back to you on that!

🍺 what brand?

Wine? White or red?

What would you be?
